Lately I’ve been in a blue period. Not in the son of an artist, nor the son of a blues guitarist, but in my blue, turquoise transparent in the shallows and, floating on the satin of the surface, increasingly pure and saturated Mediterranean with immersion in depth. Even if I contemplate the sky, it is again before my eyes, the more illuminated by the sun, the bluer, soaring with the jets of the mistral and without known end, far beyond the horizon.
Completely devoted to this mood, pouring and drinking from its cycle, for today’s topic I have chosen an equally appropriate outfit. The costume is one of a kind at this stage, although it is part of the old collection of dresses of my dream doll , as it is characteristic of the fashion of the late 19th and early 20th centuries . It is distinguished by an elegant, strongly elongated silhouette, emphasizing the shapes of the body, a clean and expressively open structure of the dress with a large lush hat, which would enhance and further highlight their femininity. These are precisely the times of transition between classical and contemporary fashion.
The dress is suitable for summer because of its casual, free from unnecessary layers of material and loose line, as well as because of its wide-hemmed upper part, an excellent means of protection from the sun and unwanted tan; also because of its material, creating comfort and a feeling of coolness, as well as because of its color, the azure shade of blue inherent to this season. The costume itself is hand-sewn from an old dress of mine for competitive dances, when I trained similar ones in the past, another touch to the fresh picture of summer with the idea of music, movement and freedom.
The dress consists of three parts, the upper and lower part of the dress, as well as a hat for the head. The skirt is uniform in cut, material and color, cut in several layers, resembling waves, with a continuous main and upper parts, completely open in length in its front part. The corset is simpler in structure, sleeveless, with a deep rectangular neckline, but decorated with an additional hem along its entire line of a white stripe, trimmed with gold stitching or tinsel. Visible, but fastened on the inside, it creates the impression of the presence of underwear under the corset. The same ribbon ties the hat to the head, whose crown is made of the same blue satin fabric and is the richest in detail and folds of all parts of the costume.
